Android G1 to get official version update

on December 28, 2009 – 4:06 am2 Comments

The phone that brought Android to the forefront, T-Mobile G1 gets a second lease of life with confirmed reports of Android 2.0 or 2.1 update over-the-air for an eclair build.

The version of the update has not been clear but its atleast going to be Android 2.0, and if the owners are lucky they will get 2.1, the version which is running on Google Nexus One. Both the updates are to be done Over-The-Air (OTA).

It has been sometime that T-Mobile G1 came out, and after that has been taken over by devices practically from all the sides. From the heavyweights announcing newer handsets by the day like Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and Motorola DEXT and MILESTONE, Samsung Galaxy, it would be really great to see how good the update version would be adaptable to an older hardware.

Being a g1 owner has had its ups and downs… however being the first is something that Tmobile and Google have not forgot. Thank you Tmobile and Google XD

Good news for those guys for sure. G1 owners deserve the update seeing they endured the hiccups at the start of the Android project.
