Flipkart now sells Televisions and enters large appliances market


Flipkart is one of India’s leading e-commerce portals and they are already into a lot of categories. Flipkart originally started out as an online portal for buying books, but ever since they have been expanding and now, they have entered the large appliances market. India’s other online retailers already sell TVs, but Flipkart has entered the market only now.

At launch, the sale of Televisions will be restricted to people living in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Flipkart expects the service to scale up to other cities soon. At launch, Flipkart is partnering with some of the leading Television brands like Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic, Philips, Toshiba and Videocon.

Like on most products you buy from Flipkart, users have the option to pay Cash on Delivery. There is also a 30 day replacement policy and you can also choose to get your product delivered to you within the next day through In a Day delivery if applicable.

Over the course of the coming months, Flipkart plans to introduce unique features like Product Exchange, Scheduled delivery and an exhaustive buying guide.

Speaking at launch, Kalyan Krishnamurthy, SVP – Retail, Flipkart.com, said, “Large appliances is a huge market in the country. With this launch, we look forward to delighting customers with a large selection, competitive prices and an exceptional post-order service experience. We will be adding many more products & verticals in the coming months”
