Facebook announces that it will clean up its News Feed Spam

Facebook is getting a lot of heat from publishers that their page’s content is not making it to the timeline of its fans and that is not at all. Facebook is being bombarded with a lot of spammy posts that ask the user for engagement like asking them to share the pic, like the pic or comment on it. Facebook has announced that it is planning to punish the publishers for such spammy posts.

Facebook has announced that they are targeting mainly three types of spammy posts –

Like Baiting

These are the type of posts that ask for user engagement explicitly – like, share or comment. With these posts and their resultant user engagement, these posts usually make it to the top. However, according to Facebook, these posts are rated as low quality content by the users and hence it plans to take actions against the publisher of such posts. Facebook is also assuring that this new update will not affect pages that are genuinely trying to have an engagement with its user base.

Frequently Circulated Content

You may have seen a funny meme once and would have liked it. But what if you see the exact same picture after a month? You will feel that they are irrelevant and that is what Facebook are trying to do – get rid of it.

Spammy Links

Facebook also plans to remove spammy posts that contain links to websites that have only Ads.
