Aamir says, Jo Jeeta, Wohi Samsung

Few months back Nokia appointed Shahrukh Khan as their brand ambassador in India for their mobile phone business. Nokia being the number one player in India wanted to go with the Number 1 Khan. Samsung on the other hand didn’t want to settle for less and has roped in the other Khan who is Number 1 in his own ways. Aamir Khan has been appointed as the brand ambassador for Samsung mobile phones. According to Samsung, innovation, change, self-expression and excellence in performance are some qualities, which are common in the Lagaan hero and Samsung phones. Aamir will be used in brand advertising as well as product advertising for Mobile phones. By the way, you might have also noticed the new Samsung tagline, “Next is What?”. For now, Next is Aamir Khan. But I have one question in mind; will Samsung follow Aamir Khan’s strategy of not attending the award shows???

It’s great for a brand like Samsung especially keeping in view that Aamir is quite selective about what he chooses to do and of course the novelty factor that he carries of being out of the box.

It’ll be good to see how Samsung is able to leverage him across its range of products. In my view, it should combine ONE powerful message for Samsung as a brand as well as touch upon MULTIPLE product attributes. This can be conveyed well by using Aamir’s multifaceted personality to promote different range of products.
